5 Tips to Coast Through Your Whole30

5 Tips To Coast Through Your Whole30 | FreeToBeBri.com

So you’ve made the brave decision to embark on a Whole30 journey. People end up doing the Whole30 for all types of reasons; perhaps you have some food sensitivities, want to finally give up sugar, or just want to drop a few pounds the “right” way.  I’m not going to lie to you, although all three apply it was the latter that made me step up to the plate.  With all that being said I was at least somewhat curious enough to see if my auto-immune issues would be positively affected.  Regardless of what brought you to this point, going at it without a plan is not wise, and if I’m being completely honest, will probably not end well.  Im gearing up for a second Whole30 and decided to share some tips that I believe will have you coasting through your Whole30.

  1. Set aside time to plan, shop for, and prepare your meals ahead of time. As DJ Khaled would say this is a MAJOR KEY.  Mosey on over to the  Whole30 website and get their handy downloadable food lists, meal template, and travel guide. Meal planning is really the number one thing that could make or break your Whole30.  Once you know what you’re eating, then you can go shop and cook.  I generally cook for the week, or at least enough to make it through the workweek, every Sunday.
  2. Recognize sh*t happens and have a backup plan.  Stock-up on nuts, fruit, Lara bars, Rx bars or whatever quick grab Whole30 approved items you like for when you don’t have time. Go ahead and separate bulk items in little baggies.   Just like that Snickers commercial says, you’re not yourself when you’re hungry and we don’t want that to lead to bad decisions. Research any fast food options. There are not a lot of on the go options, but Chipotle is pretty much my go to in a crunch. You can have carnitas, lettuce, all salsas except the corn, and guacamole DASSIT.
  3. Get rid of ALL the temptation in the house! I know some people may not be able to if your whole house is not on board, but you can save yourself from a weak moment if you do.  Throw away the cookies, the ice cream, and yes your beloved coffee creamer.
  4. Recruit a friend a do it with you.  This is actually how I tried Whole30 for the first time, a friend of mine was gearing up to do it and convinced me to do it with her.  Having an accountability partner who also understands exactly what you are going through is super helpful. You  can encourage each other to keep going when it seems like the whole world is against you. I swear we had SO MANY free food opportunities at work during my first round. BBQ, red velvet cake, and are those donuts still warm?!?!
  5. Don’t reinvent the wheel, find out what everybody else is doing.  You’re not the first and certaintly won’t be  the last person to do a Whole30, so plenty of the research is already done for you.  Search Twitter and Instagram using the #whole30 and do a Google search for recipes. Pinterest is an excellent resource for tips, recipes, and meal plans.  I recommend creating your own board to save your favorites.  Checkout and follow my board below to get you started.
